A collaborative team of students from five elementary and middle schools
across the state of Ohio were "Linking To Learn" this school year! Students
utilized the support of technology resources such as the Internet and email
to investigate their own questions about precipitation.

Our third graders began their work in their science logs by stating their
prior knowledge of precipitation and generating questions that would lead us
to a class investigation led by the guiding question..."Are Their Patterns
In Precipitation?"  Children growing up in Ohio clearly know that the
weather reports are important to our daily lives and that we rely on
meteorologists to make "reasonable predictions" about our constantly
changing weather.

Students at Buckeye Woods Elementary worked in collaborative groups to
create a greater awareness of weather patterns through close observation and
tracking of the weather. Data collection began for later analysis and
discussion:
1.What Effects The Patterns Of Precipitation?
2.Can Clouds Help Us Identify Precipitation Patterns?
3.Are There Patterns In Local Precipitation?

After we conducted our investigations we compiled information collection
from four other classrooms across the state and were able to draw several
conclusions.

A special thanks to the Science & Math Network and our fellow "Classroom
Collaborators!"
